DO THE WRITE THING CHALLENGE

NATIONAL FINALISTS

Two local students will travel to Washington, D.C. in July with the hope that their essays will help put an end to violence.

Alexis Carrilo, an eighth grader at Christen Middle School, and Javier Rosales, an eighth grader at Los Obispos Middle School, were the national finalists for the “Do the Write Thing Challenge” program, spearheaded by the National Campaign to Stop Violence.

Both students, described as national ambassadors, will have their work published at the Library of Congress.
